The Good News Family Care Community Support Team is based in Buxton and works with service users under Supporting People guidelines.  Our support is client-led and we work with service users at their homes and at our HQ. We establish an action plan that covers a number of areas and we identify risk and draw up a ‘management of risk’ plan to enable the service user to feel safe and secure.  We offer emotional as well as practical support, liaising with other agencies such as Housing, Social Care, Community Mental Health Team, and Learning Disabilities Team etc.  We help with budgeting, debt management, accessing services and keeping appointments.  We encourage and help service users to access education, employment and volunteer opportunities.  (Some of our service users are currently volunteering at the farm run by GNFC.) 

The community support service users are very active in the GNFC family and can access courses through Charis House including budgeting, parenting and self-esteem.
