The first Good News Family Care day nursery opened in Whaley Bridge in 1989 - as part of the ministry of Good News Church. The Buxton branch opened in June 1995.

Both nurseries are staffed by committed Christians who have a desire to share God's love in the community. Many staff members are experienced mothers themselves and most have professional qualifications. The centres are registered with Social Services at Matlock and are supervised by qualified staff. Both nurseries have received favourable Ofsted reports.

PREMISES AND EQUIPMENT

BUXTON
 WHALEY BRIDGE
The Buxton Nursery is based at Charis House on Hardwick Square East. It occupies five spacious rooms and has its own private entrance and separate "Wheelchair Access". Outside is a lawn and an 'all weather' soft play area.

A large hall, which we call 'The Ark', ensures that children don't miss out on active play when the weather is unsuitable for outdoor play. Activities include climbing frames, trampoline, slides and ride-on toys.

Each unit has a special area for the 'Messy' activities that children love so much. These include water and sand play, free painting.

The Whaley Bridge Nursery is conveniently situated on Old Road at Gospel Hall, the premises of Good News Church.

The nursery occupies the whole of the lower ground floor area and has its own private entrance at the rear of the building. There is an outside play area with outdoor toys and inside there is a large play area and a small kitchen which is used for preparing snacks and drinks.

The nursery is well stocked with ride-on and sit-on toys, climbing frame, games, books and many smaller toys.

Our nurseries aim to serve the local community by providing high quality pre-school education for all children - regardless of their parent's financial status. Naturally we must cover costs, but profit is not what motivates us. Parents who are experiencing financial difficulty are encouraged to talk to our nursery supervisor - and not stop bringing their child, (or hesitate to register them for a place). We always do our best to help in cases of genuine hardship.
