Supporting People is a government programme that aims to help people live more independently and to maintain their accommodation by funding organisations like Good News Family Care to provide housing related support. A wide range of vulnerable people receive support from Supporting People funded services including people with mental ill health, people with learning disabilities, older people, people with physical or sensory disabilities, homeless people and families, young people, teenage parents, people with drug or alcohol problems, people at risk of domestic violence, refugees, travellers, and ex-offenders or people at risk of offending. The Derbyshire Supporting People Partnership is made up of the District and Borough Councils within the County, Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust, Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust and the National Probation Service (Derbyshire). These partners work together to agree strategies and deliver the Supporting People programme in Derbyshire. Good News Family Care offers residential accommodation and support for up to ten women and their children, who are homeless or who are experiencing Domestic Abuse. A floating support service is also available to families in the community, as part of our Community Support Service.
