BUXTON - Derbyshire

Autumn in Buxton

Nestling amid the hills of the Derbyshire Peak District, Buxton is popular with tourists from all over the world. Renowned for its natural mineral spa water and beautiful Georgian architecture, Buxton is a pleasant place to live.Buxton mineral water

Charis House is set on a quiet square in the heart of the town. Acres of landscaped parkland lie within a few minutes walk. The bustling Spring Gardens shopping centre, where names like Marks & Spencer and Next jostle with traditional shops and pavement cafes, is less is than 500 metres away.

There are churches, open air markets (Tuesday and Saturday), a theatre, an award-winning museum, library, leisure centre and swimming pools (filled with Buxton Spa Water, of course!)

The beauty spots of the Peak District National Park lie within a few minutes drive and the surrounding countryside is tremendously varied - including large expanses of heather moorland, green wooded dales, caves and spectacular underground caverns.

Stately homes abound in this beautiful part of the world; notably Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Nature trails provide opportunities for trekking, cycling and walking. There are numerous shows, fairs and festivals - including Well Dressing, International Music Festival, Jazz Festival, Antique and Collectors fairs and Craft Fairs.

The nearest large town (Macclesfield) lies more than ten miles distant so, for the families that stay with us, Buxton offers an ideal balance between seclusion and access to amenities.
